GUILFORD DEMOCRATS NOMINATE FALL SLATE

GUILFORD – On Thursday night, the Guilford Democratic Town Committee unanimously nominated their team of candidates for the November election.

The 2017 ticket will be led by Matt Hoey who announced last month he is seeking the First Selectman’s seat. Hoey is currently the chair of the Board of Finance. Running with him for Board of Selectman will be Lou Federici and Sandy Ruoff. Lou Federici, an attorney, currently serves on the Board of Finance and is the outgoing President of the Guilford Rotary Club. Sandy Ruoff has been the Director of the Guilford Free Library for over 30 years and is making her first run for elected office.

For Board of Finance, Democrats re-nominated incumbent member Ken Gamerman and nominated Veronica Wallace. Wallace, no stranger to town government after her years on the Board of Selectman, will run for the seat being vacated by Federici.

For Board of Education, Democrats re-nominated incumbent member Chris Moore and nominated Moira Radar. Radar, a first-time candidate, is a parent of children in the Guilford school system and a local realtor.

“We are proud to nominate a diverse slate of candidates featuring both experience and new faces that, together, will lead Guilford into the future,” said Guilford Democratic Town Committee vice chair Meghan Forgione. “Over the next six months they will be working hard to listen to the concerns of Guilford residents and sharing our team’s vision for growing the local economy, continuing the excellence we’ve attained in our classrooms and preserving all that makes Guilford one of the most desirable communities in our state to call home.”
