Your views, your vote, and your involvement are essential in a town the size of Guilford.

 

Volunteer

Local campaigns depend on citizen participation in getting out the vote. Call DTC Headquarters at (203)-533-7682 or stop in at 2351 Boston Post Road, Unit 503 to sign up to make phone calls, knock doors, or help in other campaign efforts.

Vote

To learn about how one qualifies to vote, how to register, or how to get an absentee ballot, see Voting Information. To identify which of the Town’s five voting districts is yours or to find your polling location, see Voting Districts. Elections take place on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November. For more details, see Election Information.

Attend Public Meetings

Residents are expected to attend Town Meetings and public hearings, and they are welcome at regular board and commission meetings. The dates and agendas of all such meetings are posted under Public Meeting Agendas. Town Meetings and public hearings are also announced in the Guilford Courier or the New Haven Register.

Come to DTC Meetings

All Democrats are welcome at DTC meetings held on the third Thursday of the month from January through October. November and December meetings are combined on the first Thursday of December. Meetings usually take place at 7:30pm at the Community Center at 32 Church Street, but they may be held at Democratic headquarters during campaign season. Serve on a Commission

Volunteer to serve on one of the Town’s appointed boards or commissions. Openings are posted on the Town website. To apply through the DTC, download our Board/Commission Application. For more details, see Nomination Information.

Stay Informed

Guilford Community Television shows prerecorded videos of many of the Town’s public meetings on channel 20. Regular Board of Selectmen, Board of Finance, and Planning & Zoning meetings are generally on channel 20, while Board of Education meetings are on 19. Schedules and notices of upcoming events appear between programs, but you can email GCTV or call 453-8453 for specific information.
